• The Hazardous/Enumerated (or Listed) Procedures Exclusion is an exception found in most physician liability insurance policies that excludes coverage of a certain list of medical procedures. These procedures are excluded because they tend to carry a higher than average risk of claims that standard physician policies do not cover in price. Examples of the most common hazardous/listed procedures include administering general anesthesia, performing bariatric surgical procedures, and injecting silicone fluid. If a doctor regularly (or even occasionally) performs any of these listed procedures, the insurer will likely remove the procedure from the list and provide a coverage offer that reflects the additional premium for risk coverage. The purpose of this exception is to alert insured physicians that if they perform any of the procedures listed in the exception, they must notify the insurer so that the policy can be re-evaluated and an additional premium quoted.
