Home Dictionary G Global Depositary Receipt (GDR) A GDR is a traded financial security. This is a certificate that represents the shares of a foreign company and is traded on two or more global stock exchanges. GDRs are usually traded on US stock exchanges, as well as on stock exchanges in the Eurozone or Asia. GDRs and dividends thereon are valued in the local currency of the exchanges where the GDRs are traded. GDRs provide an easy way for US and international investors to own foreign shares. A-Shares
