• Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is the primary scripting language used by web browsers to display pages on the World Wide Web.

  • HyperText allows the user to click on a link and be redirected to the new page that the link refers to.
  • Early versions of HTML were static (Web 1.0), while newer versions have a lot of dynamic flexibility (Web 2.0, 3.0).
  • The markup is the text between two pointed brackets (e.g. <footnote>), and everything else is the content.
