In the indirect method, the cash flow statement starts with accrual net income and then adds and subtracts non-cash items to reconcile with actual cash flows from operations.
The indirect method is often easier to use than the direct method, since most large enterprises already use the accrual method.
The complexity and time required to transfer each cash payment, as required by the direct method, makes the indirect method preferable and more common.
