• The Information Ratio (IR) is a measure used to assess the qualifications of an investment analyst or an active portfolio manager.

  • IC +1.0 indicates a perfect prediction of actual returns, and IC 0.0 indicates no linear relationship. An IC of -1.0 indicates that the analyst always fails to make a correct prediction.
  • IC should not be confused with Information Relation (IR). IR is a measure of the skill of an investment manager, comparing the manager’s excess return with the amount of risk taken.
