TIAA is an acronym for the Teachers’ Insurance and Annuity Association.

TIAA is led by Tasunda Brown Duckett, its president and chief executive officer.
It is a commercial financial institution that provides pension, insurance and investment services, mainly to teachers and their families.
TIAA was also previously part of the College Pension Fund (CREF), which spun off into a separate entity in 2016.
Until 1997, TIAA-CREF operated as a non-profit organization.
