Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) is a data communication technology used for many kinds of data management and high frequency trading.
VSAT can be used instead of a large physical network because it reflects the signal from the satellites rather than transmitting it through physical means such as an Ethernet connection.
Since the signal must be reflected, there may be a latency issue that would not exist in a physical network. However, most users feel that this is the price you pay for remote access and less infrastructure and see it as a fair deal.
Weather can adversely affect the effectiveness of the VSAT network.
