• The American Society for Health Risk Management (ASHRM) is a not-for-profit professional organization founded in 1980 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois that supports healthcare risk managers with 5,400 members and 50 affiliated local chapters that represent various healthcare-related organizations with clinical, legal and financial interests. ASHRM’s vision is to be a leader in promoting safe and reliable health care through corporate risk management. The mission of ASHRM is to improve patient safety, reduce uncertainty, and maximize value through risk management in the healthcare enterprise based on the following four objectives: (1) Enterprise risk management promotes effective decision making in the healthcare industry through the application of enterprise risk. control; (2) patient safety - improving patient safety through a value-based approach; (3) leadership should be recognized as an influential leader in healthcare risk management; and (4) management and operations.
