• An infectious disease is a disease that is transmitted from one person to another, either by direct transmission of bacteria or viruses between a carrier and an infected person, or through a vector, such as through food contaminated by a carrier and consumed by an infected person. Liability associated with the transmission of infectious diseases, either by the person directly responsible for the transmission or by third parties legally obligated to prevent transmission, has become subject to various exceptions to insurance policies.
