• Contractual liability insurance is insurance that covers the liability of the insured assumed under the contract. Under a standard commercial general liability (CGL) policy, such coverage is limited to the liability assumed in any of a number of specifically defined insurance contracts, or the liability that the insured person would incur even in the absence of a contract.
