• A dental reimbursement plan is a dental insurance plan that reimburses an insured for his or her dental expenses less any deductible or co-payment after the insured has been paid by the insurer or, in some cases, the health care provider is paid directly by the plan after the insured has assigned the plan their benefits. Under a dental plan, an insured may choose their own dentist, whether they are included in the plan or not. Dental reimbursement plans are usually more expensive than a dental health care organization (HMO) or a preferred provider organization (PPO).
