• Extraterritorial coverage is an extension of a state’s workers’ compensation law to provide benefits to workers who are employed in the state but who are injured while working in another state. There is usually a maximum amount of time that an employee can spend outside the state of employment and still file a claim in that state. The term is also used in international insurance to refer to coverage for work-related injuries that occur outside the country of employment.
