• Fleet policy, fleet policy generally provides for both liability insurance and hull coverage. Compared to a stand-alone non-aircraft liability policy, a fleet policy offers the aircraft owner a number of advantages: coverage is usually broader and more cost-effective; losses in accordance with fleet policy will affect the aircraft management company’s (AMF) loss history and not the owner’s loss history; AMF processes claims; and because insurance is handled by one party (AMF) rather than being shared between owner and manager, gaps in coverage are less likely to occur. Drawbacks include dilution of limits, possible cancellation of the AMF policy, and likely no way for the aircraft owner to sue AMF for poor maintenance.
